IRIS Unimore allows you to calculate – with a simple click – the values related to the indicators of the Italian ASN (National Scientific Habilitation) in relation to the thresholds of your own or another Competition Sector/Scientific Sector (SC/SSD), thus simulating the outcome of a possible ASN application. The prerequisite for the simulation to be reliable is that the data concerning your own publications in IRIS are complete and up-to-date.
Simulation
The simulation graphically displays whether or not the thresholds related to the specified Competiton Sector (SC) are exceeded, with reference to the roles of ASN committee member, Full Professor (“I fascia”) and Associate Professor (“II fascia”).
In the case at least 2 out of 3 threshold objectives are accomplished, the simulation returns a positive result.
PLEASE NOTE: Exceeding the threshold values is a necessary but not sufficient requirement for obtaining the habilitation.

Disclaimer
The simulation may differ from the outcome of a potential ASN application due to cataloging errors and/or missing data in IRIS, as well as the variability of bibliometric data over time.
The simulation is based on the data from IRIS and the indicators as of the specified date, and it does not take into account any periods of mandatory leave, which, when applying for ASN, entitle individuals to GAIN percentage increases in the values. Anvur (Italian National Agency for the Evaluation of the University and Research Systems) calculates the indicator values at the last eligible date for application submission.
List of Included Publications
For each publication, the relevant ASN indicators taken into account are specified.
IN CASE OF BIBLIOMETRIC CS (COMPETITION SectorS), THE SCOPUS AND Web of Science CODES ARE PROVIDED, ALONG WITH THEIR RESPECTIVE “DOCUMENT TYPE” AND “NUMBER OF CITATIONS”.
IN CASE OF NON-BIBLIOMETRIC CS, THE ISBN AND ISSN CODES ARE PROVIDED, ALONG WITH INDICATIONS wether THE JOURNAL IS SCIENTIFIC AND/OR CLASS A.
List of Excluded Publications
For each publication, the reasons for exclusion from the calculation are provided.
IN CASE OF BIBLIOMETRIC CS(COMPETITION SectorS), THE MOST COMMON REASONS INCLUDE THE TYPE OF PUBLICATION IF IT’S NOT ADMISSIBLE (E.G., ABSTRACT), ABSENCE OF SCOPUS AND/OR Web of Science CODES, AND DATA RETRIEVAL ERRORS.
IN CASE OF NON-BIBLIOMETRIC CS, THE MOST COMMON REASONS INCLUDE THE TYPE OF PUBLICATION IF IT’S NOT ADMISSIBLE (E.G., ABSTRACT), ABSENCE OF ISBN CODES, AND THE FACT THAT THE JOURNAL IS NOT CONSIDERED A SCIENTIFIC ONE.
H-index table (only for bibliometric SC)
The simulation provides a table with publications ordered by the number of citations for the purpose of H-index calculation.
H-INDEX DEFINITION: “SCIENTISTS haVE an H-index if H of their publications have been cited at least H times each.” (Hirsch JE. “An index to quantify an individual’s scientific research output”)
