Storage in a certified data repository, detailed description with specific metadata and industry standards, and the association with an open license are essential tools to ensure the accessibility, reuse and sharing of your data.
Choose where to deposit your data
Deposit your dataset in a certified disciplinary repository that supports open access.
Chose the most suitable one on re3data.org.
If there is no disciplinary data repository available, then use a generalist or an institutional one.
evaluating the quality of a repository is not straightforward, but you can narrow down your choices on re3data to those certified as “trustworthy”.

Describe the data in detail
Descrive your dataset with complete and precise metadata and assign a unique and persistent identifier to it (e.g. DOI).
Use a standard metadata schema for your discipline. If one does not exist, use a generalist schema.
most data repositories automatically generate a DOI for deposited data.
the research data alliance and the Digital Curation Centre (DCC) provide guidance on standards used in each discipline.

Specify the license for reuse
Associate a CC0 (waiver) or a CC BY license with your dataset. By doing so, you ensure its accessibility, reuse, reproducibility and sharing.
you dont’ have to create a license from scratch. there are standard licenses applicable in most cases, namely creative commons licenses.
