From early May 2023, UNIMORE is officially part of OpenAPC, a European initiative that collects and disseminates data on the expenses paid by institutions to publish the contributions of their researchers in open access.

In Italy, UNIMORE is the only public university providing data to OpenAPC, along with the University of Milan. All data released by OpenAPC are provided voluntarily by universities, funding bodies, and other entities (e.g. national consortia).

This milestone is the outcome of the extensive work carried out by the University Library System in identifying, collecting, and analyzing publication expenses in open access incurred by UNIMORE Departments from 2015 to 2021.

The importance of such activities already guaranteed the coordination of the national CODAU group on publication cost reporting and the production of ad hoc guidelines (coordination entrusted to the head of the University Library System, Ms. Maria Raffaella Ingrosso).
